Meijer is set to provide four million meals to communities in need during Thanksgiving week through its Simply Give hunger relief program. From November 24 to 30, the retailer will donate a meal for every purchase that includes Meijer brand food items, including Frederik's by Meijer, True Goodness by Meijer, or Purple Cow.
Melissa Conway, Director of Community Partnerships & Giving at Meijer, emphasized the importance of helping neighbors during the holiday season. "The holiday season is not only a time to gather with family and friends but also to extend a hand to our neighbors in need," she said. "When each of us includes a Meijer brand item in our Thanksgiving meal, we're nourishing hope for communities across the Midwest."
Since its inception in 2008, the Simply Give program has been instrumental in feeding families by supporting hundreds of pantries annually. In 2024 alone, over 450 food pantries participated in this initiative. The program has contributed more than $90 million to Midwestern pantries so far.
Ben Hamlin, Director of Own Brand Foods at Meijer, highlighted the company's commitment: "At Meijer, we're committed to supporting our food pantry partners through the Simply Give program year-round but especially this time of year when communities are looking to do even more for those in need."
Customers can further support local food insecurity efforts by purchasing $10 Simply Give donation cards available both in-store and online as add-ons for pickup and delivery orders. These cards are converted into gift cards used exclusively for purchasing food at local partner pantries.
Certain exclusions apply regarding eligible products for donations. Each donated meal equates to approximately 25 cents based on average costs from select pantry partners within Meijer's operational area.
Meijer operates over 500 locations throughout the Midwest and employs more than 70,000 team members dedicated to providing quality service and products while maintaining community support initiatives like Simply Give.
