Midwest retailer Meijer has announced a significant expansion of its home delivery service area. The company is tripling its delivery range from a 20-minute radius to a 60-minute radius from its stores. This change will make the service accessible to nearly four million more households in both rural and urban areas across the Midwest, with deliveries possible in as little as three hours.
"We heard from many customers that were interested in using home delivery to make their grocery shopping more convenient but couldn't because they were outside of the delivery range," said Emily Henao, Vice President of Digital Experience at Meijer. "We know our customers are busier than ever, and this expansion gives us a unique opportunity to make their lives easier."
Customers can check if they fall within the new delivery area by using the Meijer app or visiting Meijer.com, navigating to "Delivery," and entering their address.
To promote the expanded service, Meijer is offering free home delivery for those purchasing at least $35 in pet or beauty products or $50 in general merchandise until February 1, 2025. After this promotional period, an extended range delivery fee will apply. Customers using SNAP benefits will continue to receive free home delivery even after the promotion ends.
Meijer's home delivery service was first launched in Detroit in 2016 and has since been expanded throughout its Midwest locations. The demand for grocery delivery increased during the pandemic, prompting Meijer to extend its hours for better customer access.
Currently, all Meijer Grocery stores and supercenters offer home delivery services. The retailer also provides pickup options and Shop & Scan services to accommodate various customer preferences.
Meijer operates over 500 locations throughout the Midwest and employs more than 70,000 team members. The company emphasizes providing a seamless shopping experience both online and in-store while contributing significantly to community welfare through donations.
