Ed Jaskolski's life is a rich tapestry of experiences, from his early days playing in a family polka band to his time in the Air Force Band during the Cold War. "We traveled all over Europe," he recalled, reflecting on the years spent performing for troops and dignitaries while facing the risks of being pursued by Russian aircraft. After military service, Ed dedicated himself to education, earning degrees from Northern Illinois University and Purdue University. Over five decades, he taught chemistry and physics, served as an assistant principal, and worked as a consultant. His greatest joy came from seeing students succeed: "In my first chemistry class, five students became medical doctors."

Family has always been central to Ed's life. He and his wife raised three children; two followed him into military service. Following his wife's passing, Ed found solace in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In 2018, health challenges led Ed to Park Place of St. John. There, he discovered a supportive community: "The staff here helps me with everything I need," he said. "I feel safe, and my kids love that I’m in a good place." He enjoys participating in activities like brain games and volleyball.

Travel remains one of Ed's passions, whether it was during his Air Force days or camping along the Mediterranean coast: “We camped right next to the sea, eating bread and beans,” he reminisced about those cherished moments.
