Meijer is set to open its new establishment, Independence Market, in Clarkston, Michigan, on April 30. The market aims to provide residents with accessible fresh produce and grocery items at competitive prices. The 50,000-square-foot space is located at 5820 Waldon Road, near the intersection of Sashabaw Road and I-75, and is expected to serve customers from the area, including those from the Waldon Village development.
Robert Lajcaj, the store director, expressed enthusiasm for the opening, stating, "Independence Market is committed to serving our new neighbors with value and convenience that makes it easy to get in and out quickly." He noted the team's efforts in preparing a range of local and national products for the upcoming launch.
The market will stock a wide variety of items, ranging from fresh meat and produce to bakery goods. Additionally, it will offer thousands of local products such as coffee from Shaded Bloom Coffee Roasters, skin care items from Allow Nourishment, and ice cream from Cook's Dairy Farm. Amenities will include a floral and gift shop, health and beauty products, pet supplies, and a cafe offering coffee and Latin street food from local favorite Honcho.
The new store plans to employ about 80 team members, who will receive competitive wages and benefits, including health coverage and a 401(k) program with a company match. The store’s operating hours will be from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
