When Brian arrived at Victorian Village, he sought a place to connect and feel at home after undergoing knee replacement surgery. His journey through the community began in independent living, progressed to short-term rehab, and finally led him to assisted living, where he discovered camaraderie and support.

Brian's experience has been supported by a dedicated team ensuring he received necessary therapy. "Everything goes through Medicare," he explained, highlighting how his transition from rehab to assisted living facilitated increased therapy and continued recovery.

His interactions with others have been a significant part of his life at Victorian Village. "I meet many friends everywhere I go," he said. He enjoys engaging with residents who may be shy, helping them open up.

Brian actively participates in group activities and casual conversations during meals, striving to make everyone feel included. The relationships he's formed with fellow residents and staff have made the community feel like home. "There's a cook who knows me well," he shared, adding that he often chats with nurses, aides, and therapy workers.

Social connections are crucial for Brian. Every Tuesday, residents gather for pizza night filled with laughter and trivia games. "One of the ladies had a stroke, but she knows every answer about songs and TV shows," Brian remarked.

Victorian Village is more than just a care facility for Brian; it's a vibrant place full of activities like music nights or impromptu Polish lessons. "I used to sit with a Polish woman and ask her to teach me some words," he recalled.

With family nearby, Brian appreciates being close to loved ones while enjoying an active social life within the community. Reflecting on his move to assisted living, he noted, "I was alone for a long time. Now, I'm surrounded by people."

Brian has found a sense of belonging at Victorian Village through therapy, activities, and friendships. His story is one of resilience and connection as he helps others engage while embracing the warmth of the community.
