Effective November 30, 2025, construction projects in Illinois will be required to comply with the updated State of Illinois Energy Code (2024 IECC). According to state officials, the new code introduces more flexibility compared to the 2021 edition by reducing certain insulation requirements and offering a broader range of compliance options. This change allows builders and design professionals to select cost-effective solutions that meet the updated standards.
Permits and plans submitted before November 30, 2025, will remain under the jurisdiction of the previous 2021 Energy Code.
